The Kaat Bench

$0.00

The Kaat Bench is a sculptural seating element shaped by Noongar understandings of landform, movement, and rest. Named for Kaat, meaning mountains or hills, its form draws from the gentle rises and contours of Country, expressed through five parallel aluminium pipes that follow the same continuous curves as the wider collection. The repeated lines create a sense of rhythm and elevation while maintaining a grounded, horizontal presence within the landscape. Designed for durability and public use, The Kaat Bench balances strength with openness, supporting shared moments of pause and gathering. It is suited to parks, campuses, and civic spaces where people come together within Country.

The Tali Bench forms part of the Moort collection, emerging as a grounded expression of sculptural restraint and collective use. Shaped by Noongar understandings of landform, gathering, and rest, Tali takes its name from the word for mountains or hills, drawing from the gentle rises and layered contours found across Country. Its form translates these natural elevations into a calm horizontal presence that sits comfortably within the landscape.

Developed through a process of reduction and repetition, The Tali Bench expresses strength through rhythm. Five parallel aluminium pipes follow the same softened curves found across the collection, creating a continuous and cohesive profile that feels both structured and open. The geometry remains visually light while offering generous, durable seating designed to support shared moments of pause, conversation, and informal gathering in public settings.

Manufactured in Australia in collaboration with Tait, The Tali Bench is made to order using high performance, exterior grade materials suited to Australian outdoor environments. Finished in a durable powder coat, the bench is low maintenance and designed for longevity. Suitable for civic, landscape, commercial, and residential settings, The Tali Bench is well suited to parks, campuses, courtyards, and public spaces, reinforcing a quiet connection between people, place, and Country.

  • CARE + MAINTENANCE

At Moort Designs, we make products for life. Our products are crafted from high-performance materials designed to withstand the elements across our diverse Australian climate zones. We make design decisions with both form and function in mind, combining timeless and cutting-edge designs with beautiful finishes in order to elevate your outdoor (or indoor) experience.

Our collections are handcrafted from weather-resistant materials, making each piece a durable choice. In order to maintain their look and feel over time, Moort items need ongoing care and maintenance. The frequency of maintenance will vary depending on the level of care you want to provide, your personal standards and requirements as well as the environment within which the product lives.

Please refer to the care instructions relevant to the specific materials and finishes of your product, and take note of the warranty details to understand the parameters.

  • CARE + MAINTENANCE

Stainless steel is the top quailty in terms of anti-corrosion, longevity and lower-than-low-maintenance. Here at Moort Designs we use both Electropolished 304 and Fired 304 stainless steel. Looking after it is an easy task.

    DO:

    • Wash your stainless steel pieces regularly with soapy water and a clean cloth

    • Use a non-abrasive cream cleaner or commercial cleaner for more stubborn marks

    • Clean in one direction along the original polish lines

    DO NOT:

    • Use steel wool, scourers or metallic scrapers

    • Allow dirt to accumulate

    • Using abrasive cleaners on the Fired finish may remove the surface colouring

    A WORD ON TEA-STAINING

In a salty sea-air environment, stainless steel can be prone to “tea-staining” (usually within 5km of the surf), recognisable by surface discolouration caused by a build-up of environmental elements.

Tea-staining is no cause for alarm as it is purely cosmetic and does not affect the structural integrity of the material.  An electro-polished finish will reduce the occurrence of tea staining, but should it occur, it will clean right off with hot soapy water and a bit of elbow grease.

  • CARE + MAINTENANCE

Wash regularly with warm soapy water and mild detergent using a soft cloth. For commercial, industrial or marine environments we recommend monthly maintenance. Always rinse well with water, to remove any remaining detergent.

Avoid steam cleaning, pressure washing, abrasive cleansers, steel brushes/wools and cleaners containing chlorine. Avoid scratching the surface by dry dusting. Never use strong solvents to clean powder coated surfaces. Aggressive solvents such as turpentine, white spirits, thinners, citrus based cleaners, Spray and Wipe, and other aggressive solvents are harmful to the extended life of the powder coated surface. Do not allow detritus, organic or man-made matter to settle on the product surface. We recommend removing any buildup of mineral deposits leaching from soils and fertilisers, should it occur on Moort’s planters.

Rough treatment of powder-coated furniture can result in chipping of the coated surface.

Touch-up paint may be purchased on request. It is advisable to repair minor nicks and scratches as soon as they appear.
